An agri-tourism attraction in Chilliwack is getting ready to kick off its 2024 season at the end of March.

The gates at Greendale Acres will open on Good Friday (March 29), starting with a three-day Easter egg hunt. It will be followed by the 102nd annual Chilliwack Plowing Match on April 6, and the Sweet Spring Flower and Animal Festival.

Well-known for its popular corn maze that attracts thousands of visitors each fall, the farmstead has been hosting events in the spring and summer for years.

The Easter Egg Hunt runs daily from March 29 to 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a sprawling egg scavenger hunt in the apple orchard, pictures with the Easter Bunny, baby animal displays, egg chutes, and more.

Every child who takes part in the egg hunt will get an Easter goodie bag for their efforts.

The following weekend will mark the historic Chilliwack Plowing Match. It’s an old-fashioned day on the farm that celebrates Chilliwack’s rich farming history. Farmers compete using both horse-drawn plows and various tractor plows.

Among other things, the plowing match will include tractor wagon rides (weather dependent), a by-donation pancake breakfast to help raise funds for local non-profit Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society, games and more.

The 102nd annual Chilliwack Plowing Match is on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Then the Sweet Spring Flower and Animal Festival happens from April 7 to May 6.

This Dutch flower festival-inspired event will feature 50,000 hand-planted bulbs. The rows of picturesque tulips lead people across footbridges and beneath windmills.

New to the farm this year and happening on Saturdays and Sundays during the Sweet Spring festival (starting April 7) is Lily’s Barnyard, which offers guests a one-on-one, meet-and-greet with Lily the lamb curated by the farm’s animal care team.

“Helping families gather those golden, joyful and sweet ‘pinch me’ moments is very important to us at Greendale Acres. We are excited for another Spring Flower Festival on the farm,” said owner Mariah Vermeer. “It’s all about the little moments here — because we believe that one day we will look back on those little things and realize that they are the big things.”

Throughout the Sweet Spring festival, there will be a number of special events like Dutch days, fairytale/princess day, grandparents’ day, Star Wars dress-up day, and a plant swap.

Other attractions at Greendale Acres include a giant jumping pillow, adventure course, bubble barn, pedal cart track, hay-bale maze, animal displays including ducklings and chicks, rubber duck races, garden and picnic areas, corn sandbox and more.

Greendale Acres is located at 41905 Yale Road West in Chilliwack.
